This edition of Rumpeln will feature two really exceptional performers / noise makers / artists you must not miss! Both are active since the 1990ies and are known for their unique way of performing with an intrinsic urgency addressing us with an outspoken directness.

Both are using their voice mouth throat – very differently though – but very strongly… reaching from absent sounds and still grimace to explicit texts and strinking contents.

No easy stuff. Very confronting. Extremely present. Great.

MICHAEL BARTHEL / mILITIA aCT (Leipzig)
Michael Barthel focuses on working with language in both written and sonic forms. His „Sprechstücke“ combine sound poetry, the big mouth of the East Berlin dialect, and lyricism infused with the intent and volume of punk.

The concert at Rumpeln ties into mILITIA aCT—an industrial noise project Michael ran between 1994 and 1997 and has since reactivated—and addresses the ongoing chronology of war / peace / war / … It makes no difference which language is used for this …

Even though you can see Michael Barthel regularly performing in germany, you probaply won‘t have the cahnce to see his mILITIA aCT again/so often. Do not miss it this time! Further info about Michael, his labelwork and his collaborations/projects, you find here:
